Bad Logos
Every where you go and every where you look, you will find bad logos.
Most of the really bad ones were created many years ago but they have special memories and meaning to the owner and so they never get redesigned. Microsoft Clip Art is a major culprit. Many computer owners excitedly scroll through the free clip art that came with their computer and start foaming at the mouth as they consider how they can become a designer for a day. They want to save themselves some money and design their own, dynamic logo! These days people are even turning to Google images for free photos (unlicensed of course) to generate and develop their “Cutting-Edge DIY Logos”.
There are also a number of DIY logo, auto-generating software sites that can be found online. Basically, what these automated software systems do is charge you a fee to utilize their clip art and fonts which can be grouped together in different combinations. Some of them offer this service free (for low resolution images) and then charge significant fees if you wish to download a high-resolution file.
If you have no money whatsoever, then these options might be your only option to begin with. They might be good enough to help get you off the ground to begin with, but if you can invest just a couple of hundred dollars, it is worth the expense to get a custom designed, tailor made logo by a professional graphic designer. After all, your logo is your public image; your front foot; the one picture in people’s minds that will help them to remember you, take you seriously and trust you with their business.
